The Second Amendment... Because when seconds count, the police are only minutes away
Welcome to the Dayton Daily News!
I lived in Dayton for five years with Constable Roy Denton, emeritus. The former Constable has lived in Dayton all of his life, never moving outside of a 10 mile radius from where he was born. He was what you truly call a homegrown southern boy. Finally after 46 years of struggling, surviving, growing, falling in love, marrying, having and raising three children, flourishing in Dayton. The Denton family is now larger as the kids go off and marry and have children of their own. This family has gone through some very rough times in Dayton which include Roy losing his first beloved wife when their three children were young, their home burning, and last but not least, the "bad blood" that continues to flow through veins of certain public officials that in our opinion need to be replaced. Since being involved with Roy and becoming his wife I have felt a certain "cold shoulder" from a number of officials that for some reason cannot let the past go and yet Roy is the one they say cannot let the past go. Roy no longer speaks of things from the past in which all of this bad blood originated. Roy continues to be himself and expresses his discord for the way things are so commonly done around here. He does not agree with the tremendous nepotism under which his local government is run. He does not like how the Herald-News, for as long as he can remember reading this newspaper to this day remains a biased publication, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the Dayton Elections and Rhea County Elections. The Dentons themselves have personal knowledge and experience as to EXACTLY how Ed Emens, publisher emeritus, allowed certain articles about the Dentons to be published at a meeting Mr. Emens attended himself! He lied to the Dentons while sitting in his office and then attended the meeting where he essentially set the Dentons up and allowed an inaccurate account of what really happened at the meeting to be publicized. There are a few in Dayton who just "hate to see Roy coming". Perhaps it is not because of what Roy has to say, which is truthful, but perhaps it is because a lot of times the truth hurts and they just don't want to hear the truth. Furthermore, for as long as Roy can remember, even back to the days when he proudly served his community as a Constable, he saw many things that were done that "just weren't right". He was never really one to go along to get along and that is exactly what his only problem in this community is. It is well known history in this community that if people in authority are up to "no good" they will do what needs to be done to stifle the person who speaks what they believe to be truthful. An example of this, the shutting down of the website RheaCountyNewspaper.com. Any person of average intelligence could conclude that the only reason the site was shut down because it was a "threat" to the untold truths actually being put out there for the taxpayer who has every right to know what their officials are up to. In the very least, in the United States of America, do the citizens have a right to hear each other's opinions on matters that concern us taxpayers? Of course we are SUPPOSED to, but honestly speaking I have experienced that if you have a difference of opinion with the wrong person and you have the gall to put your opinion out there for masses of people to hear, you will pay for it. Thus was the death of RheaCountyNewspaper.Com. I would like to say we are back, but that would not be entirely truthful. We are back but we are changed. I have been mistreated here because of my association with Roy Denton, Constable emeritus. I am here writing MY OPINIONS, which to some in the community feel I do not have the right to express myself. However, they continue to feel so free to mistreat me and Roy as their expression of dislike, grudge, bad blood, whatever you call it. However, I can handle someone not liking us. What I think is intolerable is someone in a professional position unable to control their emotions well enough to remain a PROFESSIONAL and do their job, and do it right. Not twist and bend policies, make up new policies that permit their wrongful behavior, suddenly okay. For example, police cars being driven outside of the limit for ages but now it is okay, because after breaking the policy for so long and people were taking notice of it, what did officials do? THEY CHANGED THE POLICY to cover their mistreatment and misuse of the taxpayer dollar all along. Just another example folks. People know we are right and love to read what we have to say, but Roy and I well know we have people who think the way we do, but they also know and hear of how you pay for it, when you have the guts to stand up and speak about things. Roy Denton is not one that has problems with dealing with people, especially those in positions of authority. What he truly has the problem with, is those that abuse their positions of authority. So naturally, people in positions of authority in Dayton, began to look at Roy Denton as a problem citizen. Problem citizen for who exactly? Thus, the birth of Search of Serenity. This is where Roy and I continually to search for peace of mind in a corrupt and unfair world. This is where we EXERCISE OUR RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. Ironically, in doing this, it brings upon us a lot of conflict with people in positions. But really, if these people were on the up and up, would they really have such a problem with the Dentons? Answer that one for yourself. This is a website with personal stories about experiences of living in Dayton, Good and Bad. Roy and I know that not all people in Dayton are not bad and not all officials in Dayton are bad, but Roy and I like to share our opinions and share information to pass long to our fellow citizens of Dayton. So welcome back, we are glad to be back and as ALWAYS, thank you for reading. Welcome to the Dayton Daily News!
