Former Constable disgusted at Dayton officials
|
I have noticed since my retiring as Constable of the 5th District of Rhea
county that a common denominator exists as being how “CERTAIN” law
officers of Dayton, are portraying the attitude as being “THE LAW” and
can do what they want, whenever they want and to whomever they want.
First of all, any Officer that projects this intimidating image is not fit
nor worthy of wearing the Badge of a law enforcement officer. It makes
me wonder why a Sheriff or Chief (special or not) would appoint and
retain such a caliber of person. I feel that a Deputy represents and
reflects what a Sheriff is, and what he really stands for. I feel that a
person Elected or Appointed to an Office to enforce law is just that, a
person that enforces law. This person is NOT “the law” nor does he
make any law whatsoever. He is an enforcer of the law only. We should
not fear him, but trust him to serve and protect us, and he should hire
those that feel the same, and display the same passion for the
betterment of Dayton and all it’s inhabitants.
If I can no longer trust a person to work for me, then that person
should be replaced. This same thing holds true for those that we elect
into office, if we can no longer trust them then we replace them. Now
that the elections are coming up soon, I am sure that we will all see the
familiar “political smiles” and the “patting of heads” of our little children
by these Politicians in hopes of candy coating years of distrust and using
their office to better themselves and acting like we the citizens don’t
even exist or matter. Well, for one I do have a memory of what has been
done. And I most definitely WILL remember all of this when I am in the
ballot box on election day.
